Snow & Our Weekend Update

Friday was the last day of the quarter at school...so today is a teacher inservice day and the kids are home. Perfect timing too! We woke up to the first real snowfall of the season. Not quite enough for a great snowman, but perfect for those snow angels that Danielle has been waiting for months to make!

We had a super-busy weekend. Busy and fun. Friday Fred brought home the movie "Click" for us to watch after the kids went to bed. It was funny in a completey stupid sort of way. I mean really stupid. But the plot was good. If you try to fast-forward through all the bad stuff or mundane stuff of life in order to hurry up to the good parts of life.....you'll end up missing life. Not only that....but when you look back....you'll realize that the "good life" wasn't the promotions and prestige....it's the life lived out in the everyday-ordinaries. (i think i just made that word up)

Danielle went to her very first drop-off birthday party. She spent the whole last week counting down the minutes to get to this day!

Marisa's basketball team played against Assumption. This game was a better match than the week before! The score was 8 to 4 in our favor. The Assumption girls really pushed our girls to be more aggressive than they are used to. They adapted just fine. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time with my stomach flip-flopping around.

Saturday night we spent at my Aunt and Uncle's house in Milan. This was our last Christmas party for this season. We eat and eat and eat. The boys spent most of the time playing pool and darts and whatever else my uncle has down in his basement. This is just fine with all of us girls as we hang out and talk and talk and laugh and talk. it's so funny how even though we don't get together as often as I would like....when we do...it's like we haven't missed a beat.
We did a white elephant gift exchange which gets to be alot of fun once people start stealing other people's gifts and strategizing on ways to get what they want! I brought my camara...but forgot to take pictures!

Sunday Nathan went to a birthday party and Marisa stayed at a friend's house. The rest of us pretty much relaxed around home. Except for Fred who had lots of reading homework to do for his class tonight. The front of his book has the word "TAX" in huge letters and the thought of sitting down to that book makes my eyes start to droop.

We also watched "Funniest Home Videos" on Sunday. A cousin of mine from CA and her daughter were one of the finalists. If you watched it....it was the video with the mom laying down and balancing her daughter on her feet.....which triggered a bladder control issue in the little girl.

And today we drove around town to snap some pictures for the Advocate and then played in the snow. Tomorrow is back to school for the kids.

Wow, sounds like you had a very busy weekend. Jim woke up our boys even though they are 13,15,16 and 16 and said if you want to go sledding before we go do a work job in Muscatine, you better get bundled up and go. So all of them were out in the snow, and after they were done I realized I should of went out and got a picture. woops! Kind of like you taking the camera but forgetting to take pictures. I guess like friend like friend. What cute pictures.

Your friend,
