Homecoming, Hair and a Field Trip with the 3rd Graders
Homecoming.
Tonight is Durant's homecoming. I graduated from Durant like 15 years ago. The newspaper. I write for asked me to go to the pep rally last night and take some photos of the newly crowned king and queen.
15 years ago I was the homecoming Queen.
Was I reminiscing about the good old days? Was I reliving the pep rallies from years past? Was I all "I'm a former homecoming queen give me some attention"?
Nope.
I was thinking....lookie here homecoming queen. This could be you in 15 years. Married. Lots of kids. Carpools. PTO fundraisers. Sweatpants. Yes, that's right. You play your cards right and in 15 years.....you could be me.
But none of this needs to worry you. I mean look. Great hubby who works hard so I don't have to. 4 completely adorable kids, each with a different yet totally interesting bent. And the "carpool, PTO and sweatpants" thing.....Let me just say....YOU were a homecoming Queen. You can make anything look good!
But here is a secret.....Go to your favorite hairstylist.....like I did a couple of days ago....and order the "PTO MOM THAT EVERYONE HATES". This style is the cut and color that makes all other moms want to hang with you but they all secretly hate you because of your great hair.
Yes that is right. This is the secret to great hair. Make sure your stylist has this on their menu of services.
Or.....make sure she has a magic wand.
That is what I was thinking. Or something close to it.
The hair part is true. My sweet sister-in-law. does in fact have a magic wand, waved it for me a couple of days ago and POOF....the damage I did to my hair when trying to color it on my own was fixed!
Not that it matters after today.
I went on a field trip with nearly 100 20nd and 3rd graders today.
I pulled out all of my hair.
But I did have fun doing it.

Hi Robin -
was looking for peoples experience of creating homecoming hairdos and really enjoyed your humorous comments and writings!
Glad you took such a positive slant on things - can't imagine anything worse than having to do it all again!
