Happy Mother's Day
So I'm a day late with this greeting...but Happy Mother's Day anyway!
I know. It isn't the same hearing it late, on a monday, back to kid's day all-day every day!
But then again....that is what Mother's Day is all about.
Our kids.
So yesterday, when I brought my kids to my sister's house to visit aunts and uncles and grandma and grandpa and people we generally don't see all together or all that much, and I had to leave about 6 seconds after getting there because one of my kids was feeling sick....I didn't get all bent out of shape. I took the sick one home, smothered him with some mothering, tucked him in bed and let him sleep for he entire afternoon.
The other kids wanted to stay and play and visit with everyone. So they did.
Which means I spent Mother's Day...sort of by myself.
And taking care of my kids.
Without them, it would have been just another day.
With them, it was just like any other day.
Which to me....is heaven

The Friday Funnies
Happy Friday to you Internets.
It has been one of those weeks here. Which means one thing.
I need to laugh at something so stupid it is funny.
Thanks for this joke Lisa!
Just what I needed!
A woman in her fifties is at home, unclothed, happily jumping on her bed and squealing with delight. Her husband watches her for a while and asks, 'Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look? What's the matter with you?' The woman continues to bounce on the bed and says, 'I don't Care what you think. I just came from having a mammogram, and the doctor says that not only am I healthy, but I have the breasts of an 18 year-old.' The husband replies, 'What did he say about your 55-year old ass?' 'Your name never came up,' she replied

Batter Up!
"Hey mom. I fart alot when I get nervous."
Thankfully, Nathan was nervous outside last night.
Yesterday was his first day playing baseball for the Durant American Legion in the majors. They lost 15-3, but I hardly noticed the score because I was too busy being all proud of my little fart out there on the mound.
He started out pitching, struck a couple of batters out, dove for a bunt-pop-up and got that guy out. made a play at first and a play at home plate, both good for outs. When his pitch count was up, he moved out to left field. At the plate, he got a base hit, scored the first run, got struck out once, walked, and if there was any more than that I was too busy pushing some little girl on the swings.
But I got to say that I was the mostest proudest of him when I was tucking him in bed last night when he was telling me that when he was out in left, not getting much action, he was talking it up to members of his team who needed the encouragement. And how he was a quiet cheerleader in the dugout for the boys whe came back after striking out or getting out. He would remind some that that was a good hit....you advanced a runner....And to one boy who was sad after striking out, Nathan told him "hey...i bet your dad is really proud of you for getting up there and trying especially since this is your first year".
Talk about major league heart.
The little fart.

journaling
Whatcha been up to internets?
Me? Trying to pick up some pieces here and there and put my life back together. Real exciting, I know. Sorry I haven't been in this neighborhood for a while. I've just been sort of laying low. Life is hard enough these days and it doesn't help me any when I write something and then have people who just don't know my situation or people who think they know what's going on but really don't, take the time to tell me what to do and then kick my emotions around some more.
But I'm going to try and set that aside and write anyway. Because for me, writing is like breathing. Blogging, for me, is like keeping a journal. I'll continue to keep a journal by blogging. But I haven't decided yet if I will keep it online or have it be a closed journal. If you happen upon this blog and find it blocked, you can assume that I've decided to keep it to myself. I hope you understand.

I am full
I have eaten more in the last week than I have in the last month. I am sure of it. Christmas parties and family get-togethers are winding down, but I am still full. From like, a couple of days ago.
So I decided that I wasn't going to eat anything today and that lasted till about 9:30 in the morning when I made myself a fried egg, ham and cheese sandwich with a side of chips. Because obviously I am into the healthy, low-fat thing.
In other super exciting news....I found a rental that will fit me and the kids. Plan on moving in next week sometime!
Before I start moving boxes and things I'll be sure to fuel up on my carbs and fried protein in order to ensure I'll be full of energy.
Probably just full, though.

Tis the Season
It's Christmas all around.
Christmas parties.
Christmas concerts.
Christmas plays.
Christmas shows on T.V.
Christmas shopping.
It's Christmas every where I turn.
But it just doens't feel like Christmas to me.
Lucky for me, Christmas isn't just a feeling.
Christmas is a gift that came wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger some 2000 years ago. The meaning of Christmas is more than just a season out of the year. And lucky for me....Christmas is in my heart whether I feel like it or not.
My wish for you is that you will know the hope Christmas brings.....whether you can see it now or not.
Merry Christmas.
